Primary Care Networks (PCN’s)
Charnwood GP Network is the main contract holder for the four Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Charnwood. Beacon, Carillon, Soar Valley, and Watermead PCNs work together along with the Federation to employ ARRS Staff to work at our member practices to try and deliver a more joined up healthcare system for our Patients.

Beacon PCN
- Charnwood Medical Group (Rosebery Medical Centre)

And provides services to a population of 35,372
Enhanced Access Clinic
All GP Practices in Beacon PCN are able to offer Enhanced Access Appointments for their patients outside of core hours, 18:30 – 20:00 Monday to Friday, and 09:00 – 17:00 on Saturday. These appointments are a variety of remote consultations and face-to-face appointments and mainly hosted at Rosebery Medical Centre, Loughborough on behalf of the entire PCN.
Spirometry Appointments
Charnwood GP Network provide breathing test clinics and offer Spirometry and FeNo testing for patients registered with a Shareholder Practice, the patient can be referred by their GP Practice and clinics are held on a Saturday at Rosebery Medical Centre, Loughborough and Charnwood Surgery, Mountsorrell.

These appointments are a variety of remote consultations and face-to-face appointments hosted at Rosebery Medical Centre, Loughborough on behalf of the entire PCN.

These appointments are hosted at a variety of locations during the week, and at Charnwood Surgery, Mountsorrel on Saturday and Sunday, on behalf of the entire PCN.

All GP Practices in Watermead PCN are able to offer Enhanced Access Appointments for their patients outside of core hours, 18:30 – 20:00 Monday to Friday, and 09:00 – 17:00 on Saturday. These appointments are hosted at Birstall Medical Centre on behalf of the entire PCN.

Pancreatic Cancer Case Finding Pilot
National Cancer Programme along with Cancer Alliances and primary care have devised a new pilot delivered by chosen PCNs, that will look at the appropriate cohort of patients being referred for urgent investigations leading to the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
East Midlands Cancer Alliance has been selected for phase one of the pilot and Watermead PCN (Leicestershire) was chosen to deliver this pilot, along with 3 other PCNs from Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire. This pilot will proactively identify patients who meet the eligibility criteria:
Aged 60 years and over at the date of NOD diagnosis (see below)
NOD: New Onset Diabetes in the last 12 months
Weight loss: Unexplained weight loss within the 12 months preceding the NOD diagnosis.
Eligible patients will receive an urgent referral for investigation to rule out or diagnose pancreatic cancer.
